We are looking for an experienced glass processing and coating engineer.
Responsibilities and activities for this position include the following:
・Lead the development of new glass products, processes and quality specifications to meet a wide range of product applications of different shapes and cosmetic requirements.
・Collaborate with product design and industrial design groups on material selection, design feasibility and aesthetics of new glass part designs.
・Serve as Apple’s internal glass expert by leveraging thorough understanding of properties of glass materials, processing and various performance coatings for glass substrates.
・Institute continuous process improvement measures from initial part design through production ramp of glass parts.
・Proficient with the use of Design For Manufacturing, SPC, AQL, Kaizen and Six Sigma techniques and visit factories to fully understand their capabilities, quality requirements and resolve difficult issues.
・Take the leading role in suggesting or adopting ideas for improving productivity and quality of glass part fabrication, performance coating, tinting, decorating, polishing, cutting and grinding operations.
・Train engineers at plants in China to produce new glass fabrication & coating techniques.
・Develop collaborative relationships with Apple suppliers through training and quality control visits. Will be an advisor to plants on maintaining correct controls on the processes and inspection certificates on the materials.
